Stateline straddles the south end of Lake Tahoe at the California-Nevada border on US-50 — the Heavenly Mountain Resort gondola climbs from the Heavenly Village plaza to a 9,156-foot Carson Range ridge with the Observation Deck looking 14 miles up the lake, the Stagecoach and Boulder lodges off Kingsbury Grade run the Nevada-side ski lifts, and the casino strip on the south side of US-50 lines up Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Bally's Lake Tahoe (formerly MontBleu), Harrah's, Harveys, and the Lakeside Inn within a five-block walk. The South Tahoe Events Center next to Bally's opened in 2023 as a 6,000-seat arena (concerts, Tahoe Knight Monsters ECHL hockey, Pac-12 college basketball); Edgewood Tahoe's Tom Fazio golf course and lakefront resort anchor the south end at the lake.
