CarpinteriaA Santa Barbara County beach town with the world's safest beach, a harbor seal rookery, and a downtown Avocado Festival every October

A small Santa Barbara County beach town twelve miles south of Santa Barbara — a mile-long Carpinteria State Beach with the calmest swimmable surf in California, a harbor seal rookery on the bluffs above Casitas Pier, and a six-block Linden Avenue downtown that hosts the California Avocado Festival every October.

A Santa Barbara County microsite

Welcome to CarpinteriaA mile of Pacific sand with the gentlest surf in California, a downtown six blocks from the beach, and Santa Barbara twelve miles up Highway 101. The Channel Islands keep the swell down; the bluff trail keeps the seals close.

Carpinteria sits between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific on US-101, twelve miles south of Santa Barbara — Carpinteria State Beach runs a mile of white-sand frontage broken by tide pools, sand dunes, and the geologic-curiosity Carpinteria Tar Seeps; the Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve and its Coastal Vista Trail sit on the eastern edge with a year-round overlook of the Carpinteria Harbor Seal Rookery; and the six-block Linden Avenue downtown holds the original 1920s storefronts, Linden Square's restaurant courtyard, and the annual California Avocado Festival every October.

Our rentals concentrate in the Sandyland Reef condo complex on the beach side of Sandyland Road — the closest set of vacation rentals to the Carpinteria State Beach campground entrance, walking distance to Linden Avenue, and shared pool-and-hot-tub access included. Most are 1-or-2-bedroom condos sleeping 4–6, with a smaller set of larger beach-cottage homes scattered along the Sandyland and Cindy Lane corridor.
