Seven miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline along Norfolk's Ocean View Beach, the world's largest naval base at Naval Station Norfolk, the Battleship Wisconsin moored at the downtown Nauticus museum, and the NEON arts district anchoring Granby Street's restaurant-and-gallery row.
Norfolk sits on the deepwater Hampton Roads harbor where the Elizabeth River meets the Chesapeake Bay — Virginia's second-largest city, the homeport of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, and the cultural anchor for the south side of the bay. The city splits into clearly defined neighborhoods: the seven-mile Ocean View Beach strip on the northern bayfront, the East Beach planned community at Pretty Lake's mouth, the downtown NEON arts district and Granby Street restaurant row near the Elizabeth River waterfront, and the Ghent Victorian neighborhood with the Naro Cinema and Colley Avenue's brunch scene. Naval Station Norfolk's seven carrier piers (the largest naval base in the world) sit at the city's northwestern tip; commercial vessel-watching from the Half Moone Cruise Terminal pier downtown is one of the city's underrated free pastimes.
Our rentals concentrate along the Ocean View bayfront — beachfront cottages on East Ocean View Avenue with Chesapeake Bay sunsets directly out the front door, planned-community townhomes in East Beach with private beach-club access, and a smaller cluster of historic-district apartments in Ghent for travelers who want walkable downtown food-and-museum days. Most beachfront properties sleep 4–8 with full kitchens; the larger four-bedroom homes go to 12+ for family reunions. Pets are welcome at most bayfront cottages.
