Dave's Last Resort- Long Stay Discount- House on the Lake
- Free Cancellation
A White County lakes town built around the 1920s-built Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman reservoirs on the Tippecanoe River — home to Indiana Beach Amusement Park (operating since 1926, seven roller coasters, the Sandy Beach swimming area), the 135-foot Madam Carroll dinner-cruise paddlewheeler, and the Indiana Beach KOA campground.
Monticello sits 80 miles north of Indianapolis at the heart of White County, Indiana — built around the Twin Lakes (Lake Shafer to the north, Lake Freeman to the south) created in 1923 and 1925 when the Tippecanoe River was dammed for hydroelectric power. The town's anchor attraction is Indiana Beach Amusement Park on the Lake Shafer south shore, which the Spackman family opened as Ideal Beach in 1926 and which has been pumping out family-vacation memories ever since — through ownership shifts, a brief 2020 closure, and the 2020 reopening that brought back the Hoosier Hurricane, the Cornball Express, the Sandy Beach swimming area, and the long-running Indiana Beach Boardwalk.
Our Monticello rentals concentrate at Dave's Last Resort on the Lake Freeman shore — a small lakeside cottage-and-cabin community with a shared swimming pool, a pet-friendly policy, and a long-stay discount on weekly bookings. Dave's puts guests within a 7-minute drive of both Indiana Beach (Lake Shafer side) and the Madam Carroll's home dock at Lake Freeman, and within walking distance of the Tippecanoe-shore fishing access. Most cabins sleep four to six and include full kitchens.
