Granby sits at 7,935 feet at the head of the Fraser River Valley in Grand County — the Continental Divide rises 13,000 feet east of town inside Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Granby and the Shadow Mountain and Grand Lakes form the Three Lakes corridor north of town, and Winter Park Resort is twenty minutes south on US-40 over Berthoud Pass. The Granby Ranch resort sits on the south edge of town with a 1,406-foot vertical chairlift system, 41 ski runs, a 250-mile lift-served downhill mountain-biking park in summer, and a private 18-hole Headwaters Golf Course on the resort property. Rocky Mountain National Park's Grand Lake western entrance — the quieter side of the park, with the Trail Ridge Road climb to Milner Pass at 10,758 feet — is twelve minutes east on US-34.
