The Emmet County Northwoods village wrapped around the small inland Carp Lake — an 8-mile drive south of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinaw City's Mackinac Island ferries, anchored by the 10,512-acre Wilderness State Park on Lake Michigan, the white-sand Sturgeon Bay public beach, the Headlands International Dark Sky Park (one of fewer than 20 in the world), the historic 1869 McGulpin Point Lighthouse, and the M-119 Tunnel of Trees scenic drive south through Cross Village to Petoskey.
Carp Lake is the small Emmet County village wrapped around the inland Carp Lake (1,150 acres) at the northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula — 8 miles south of Mackinaw City, 10 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge, and 30 minutes north of Petoskey. The village's signature anchor is the Cedar Village rental cabin colony on the inland lake — a 1950s-built Northwoods cabin compound with seven detached cabins ranging from a 392-square-foot one-bedroom to a 700-square-foot three-bedroom, all single-floor, pine-paneled, and on a shared sandy beach with kayaks and a community fire pit. Wilderness State Park (10,512 acres on Lake Michigan, the Lower Peninsula's largest state park) is 6 miles west; the Headlands International Dark Sky Park is 5 miles north; and the Mackinaw City ferry docks are an 8-mile drive for the Mackinac Island day trip.
Our Carp Lake inventory is concentrated entirely at Cedar Village — six rental cabins at the Northwoods compound, all sleeping 4 to 9 across one to three bedrooms, with shared access to the inland Carp Lake's sandy beach, dock, and the family-of-cabins community amenities (foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard, playground, volleyball, fire pit, and an arcade room). All cabins run flexible 1-night minimum stays, which is unusual for a Northern Lower Michigan summer market and makes Carp Lake one of the few places in the region you can book a Saturday-and-Sunday weekend in July without the seven-night Saturday-to-Saturday rule. Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City is 90 minutes south; Pellston Regional (PLN) in Pellston is 25 minutes south; most travelers drive in from Detroit (4 hours) or Grand Rapids (3 hours).
