Although beautiful, no one would need more than three days at the North Shore. It's too sleepy and limited and everything closes early. Even the Turtle Bay Resort itself has one pool and one beach, so things would get old quickly.

At Giovanni's, Seven Brothers, and Ted's Bakery, the food was truly delicious but it took at least 20 minutes to get to the closest places to eat (besides Roy's and Kula Grille at the resort.) A walk through the old town would take 2 hours tops. The botanical gardens also took only two hours. If I hadn't been going to a wedding, I would have been extremely bored. I suggest to never stay at the North Shore for six nights!

As for the Estates at Turtle Bay itself, our fridge did not work. Apparently, they came by the next day to try to fix it, but no one called with that update. So as far as I knew, no one came by. I called again and this time maintenance stopped by while we were in the room. He used a blow dryer to melt ice on the chiller. This seemed to fix the problem but this was one day before we checked out.

ETB sends everyone a passive-aggressive, long "do's" and "don'ts" letter about the property. Also, while the units are clean, they all have different owners so there are inconsistencies. My family stayed at various other units so some of the things we noticed are: poor air conditioning, broken fridge (see above), no promised detergent for one load of laundry, some patios were screened in and some weren't, provided hair dryers when told to bring your own, and you had to drive to the office to get beach towels (plus return them there!)

Although, once you figured out the system, we had no issues, but reading about all the fines for locking yourself out, forgetting the key fob, sand in the room, and leaving the air conditioning, etc. on did not constitute a welcoming environment. Plus, when a group of senior members of my family sat by the pool talking, a security guard came by a chewed them out for

Very relaxing. This was my first time spending a few vacation nights in the area and I really enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood.

Not good. The maintenance is horrible and much of the amenities that used to be in the unit are gone - even the boogie board we bought and left in the closet last year was gone. We took pictures of the cracks in the ceiling and massive ant poop. You cannot leave food on the counters for more than five minutes without it being attacked by ants when you return to put it away or get seconds. They are all over the floor and bite your feed if you don't have shoes on. In addition to the ant problem, rules around alcohol at the pool, even in an approved container have changed - bummer for a vacation when it is cold everywhere else. Security guard that wants to sniff your container and comes into the pool area like a vigilantly is unacceptable! I would never stay here again, which is unfortunate because this isn't our first time and would have highly recommended before. If you have an alcohol problem with unruly people at the pool, address the problem with those people rather than ruining everyone else's time with a militaristic way of treating guests. His behavior absolutely ruined our vacation and our 40th wedding anniversary. He treated us like small children even though we were not intoxicated and nobody else was even in the pool. The rude paper signs outside the pool take the cake - the new rules don't and won't work, you will go broke and nobody will return! Thanks for ruining our vacation and a huge anniversary...

The rental was very clean charming and Karen was so friendly with the booking and the checking in and out process. We had everything we needed for our stay and 5 stars for the comfy beds. The estates grounds are gorgeous. We enjoyed Lovely walks every morning all around the grounds. We also enjoyed the tennis and the pools and the cove and the sunset off Turtle bay is stunning. The location is so perfect for exploring other parts of the Island as well. We enjoyed the Polynesian cultural center, hiking diamond Head, the swap meet in Pearl City, Pearl Harbor and many of the beaches on the North shore. Our favorite food spots were Haukilau cafe for banana pancakes, Matzumotos for shave ice, Kahuku farms for everything and Teds Bakery's pies. We'll be back!

The internet did not work and when we called the office for assistance they told us to call the internet company to fix it, which did not solve the problem since we do not have access to the account. The dishwasher did not work as well. Location was great, but condo very out dated. A cockroach crawled on us in bed as well!

Peacefull and clean. We stayed for 2 days while waiting for our other vacation rental. I would definantly stay here again.
Excellent for people on a budget. You get more for the price you pay

Wonderful. Much better than the other condo we rented here.
Marianne H. May 31, 2017
The condo was nice and clean! We had a conference at Turtle Bay so staying at the condo was close. I got to cook for the kids , instead of eating out everyday! It is right on the golf course so it was nice to see the golfers in the early morning!

I rented a unit without wi-fi at first. The management alerted me to the fact and suggested a unit with wifi. The check in was smooth, the staff was helpful. I was lucky because my unit was ready at the check-in office at 1:00 pm, earlier than the specified 3:00 pm. The wifi router did not work when I arrived but the management solved the problem instantly by allowing me to use the wifi next door. The unit is well located, within walking distance to the beach and the golfing club's excellent restaurant. The unit is neat and tidy and well equipped, with the ironing board to the rice cooker. Even baking needs. Reminder: you will need a car to use these units because the check-in and out is 3 miles away. Also, bring some extra toilet paper if you are staying more than a couple of days.

I enjoyed my stay. I come to Hawaii 3-4x a year. The location of condo is wonderful.
I had trouble with the door the first night and immediately someone came to fix the lock.
I do think that it would be nice to have a hair dryer on site, extra beach towels and cleansing products.
I stayed for 17 days and it was lovely place to visit
Anonymous March 9, 2018
Overall, this was a decent place to stay for the 3 nights we rented it and it met our needs. The north shore and surrounding area were terrific and we can't wait to visit it again. A few minor issues/easy fixes for this unit, and it would have received a higher review.
The remote controls did not work, which was noted in other reviews and it's unfortunate that the owners have not rectified something so simple.
The unit did have ants, which we understand is common for the area. They were localized to one area and were not bothersome to us. I wish there was can of Raid-like spray on site, as I would have used it.
The lanai has one table and one chair. More chairs would be lovely, as well as beach towels.
We only went to the pool once as the weather when we there wasn't the greatest, but it was a clean, nice area.
Overall, it was an okay stay, met our needs and good value for the money.

Easy check in and easy check out. Property is clean and very safe.
Shelly B. November 11, 2017
Great! Even had pack and play for a toddler!
Peter M. January 16, 2018
Very noisy and little amenities. Only four towels and no beach towels. No extra pillows. No cable TV. No beach chairs to enjoy the outside. Only four spoons, forks, etc. We were very disappointed and will never return to this location.

It was great. No complaints. Awesome location, nice place, easy process.
Paul A. May 19, 2015
Great little place for what I needed. Plenty of room and on the course. clean. Easy to get to and from the clubhouses or town. Priced right. Great for a single or couple that want a place to go to after golf. I would love to buy it.

For my husband's birthday we decided to try a Staycation.
The condo we rented was perfect for the occasion.
We had a great time and everything was nice and clean, ????
Anonymous March 5, 2016
Turtle bay is a great place to vacation. We loved the feel of Hawaii but convenience of a big city if needed. Condo was awesome, very clean and suited our needs perfectly. We loved the amenities, pool and tennis courts.
Molly Z. March 9, 2016
This is a great basic one bedroom condo at Turtle Bay. The decor isn't excessive and it was clean.
Dale Y. October 14, 2015
Clean!!
But no A/C in the living room?? There were electrical issues with the ceiling fans. The speeds don't change. And no AC in living room made it unbearable
Anonymous June 10, 2016
Our condo was very clean, quiet, and in a great location on the North Shore. It was very close to beaches. The swimming pools were clean and convenient. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this condo and location to others. Had a great time.
Natalie B. August 2, 2015
We stayed here with our two children ages 9 and 12 and it was perfect. We wanted to enjoy the quiet outdoors of the North Shore rather than the busyness of Waikiki. It was clean, had a swimming pool and close enough to amazing beaches. We will definitely come back to this location.
Grace L. March 17, 2015
I normally stay in hotels when I vacation, so this is a different experience. Getting into the property was a bit or work. Went to the resort first but could not get in with no code. Went to the property rental office but they sent the keys etc to the condo. Unlike a hotel there's no one around to help you with anything or change anything you don't like. Like I really hated the towels because they left lint all over my skin. Other than small things like that, it was a nice and relaxing place to stay.

clean & comfortable
Anonymous April 8, 2015
Renting this unit was really easy - the staff was responsive and all communications were straightforward. We checked in after office hours, so we had to use the gate code and key fob. The gate code didn't work, but another guest let us in luckily - we could have just been doing something wrong honestly. Key fob was easy. I'd recommend this property to a friend or relative! The unit furnishing was a bit outdated, but it was still comfortable. Proximity to Turtle Bay and other beaches was great. Definitely a great value.
Laura O. February 12, 2016
The condo was clean and had everything we needed. Just a few minor things, the outer screen door didn't close completely, the batteries in the remote and clock were dead, ceiling fan in the living room seem to have only one speed. Also the lockbox was confusing because there were two by the outside faucet that didn't work (should be removed to avoid confusion), and we later saw the correct one on the side of the front door. Overall, we enjoyed our mini-staycation!

We had a great stay at our condo in turtle bay estates.
The location is amazing and the views were great.
Glenn G. June 18, 2016
It was horrible and I will never stay here again. The agents are ******** and will not respond or return your phone calls. I had a terrible time with things in my room that was broken and don't work. I will continue to make this go viral and share with friends to never stay here and to spend there money and stay in Waikiki. You give me a refund on $47 for this and that is just a fricken joke. Really... $47??? You may as well keep the **** thing and use it to fix the **** bathroom that was broken and useless to me and my family. This place is a **** joke. My family, friends as well as I, will never do business with turtle bay resort ever again!!!
Shan S. August 23, 2016
A hidden germ in the north shore. It's more affordable than Turtle bay resort.
Anonymous April 22, 2010
Floors were VERY dirty - couldn't go bearfoot. Dead cockroaches under sofa sleeper. Sofa sleeper mattress was terrible (had to pad with couch coushions). Ants everywhere (thankful for can of Raid left).
Anonymous January 15, 2010
Nice comfortable condo with beautiful beaches nearby and the golfing is A 1.
Anonymous February 22, 2012
Overall it was a very good situation. The unit was very nicely furnished. It was in generally good condition. The trade wind blew right through the unit making for a very pleasant experience.
Anonymous June 22, 2010
Roach's in the Bathroom, Ants in the Kitchen, and no hair dryer, and no shampoo. AC unit was very loud!
Anonymous September 1, 2012
great experience exactly what we needed. the only thing I would recommend is having some books to read in the condo, maybe for kids and some books about hawaii.
Suzy H. November 15, 2012
When we arrived, we opened all the windows, including the bedroom, and turned on the fans, great cross breezes and used the AC in the bedroom. Enjoyed the lanai using the 2 wicker chairs and the wicker couch was comfy. Read the great info sign on the front sofa table to learn more about the condo. Great to have beach towels and used the washer and dryer. Laundry detergent provided. THANKS!

Very relaxing. No worries is happy :)
Diana T. May 29, 2012
We really enjoyed ourselves. The one concern was that we came in 2 cars but got one parking pass. I forgot to ask for another parking pass. We were hardly in the unit because we had attended a wedding on the hotel grounds. I really like the ease of the coming and going and we were able to use the guess parking during the day, when needed. Anyways, everything actually worked out really good. Thank you so much.
Ken and MaryBelle P. November 13, 2012
We were attending a wedding at Turtle Bay and were delighted with our accommodation. It was very affordable and thoroughly pleasant with a nice supply of dishes and kitchen supplies. The front room was relaxing and the television exceptionally fine and the bedroom was nicely appointed and the bed comfortable. We had easy access to every place in the resort. The a/c was a little rough but we hardly ever used it relying instead on the fresh breezes passing through the screen doors. For some reason we were not able to access the internet although it did seem to be working. But overall, those were minor concerns and the place exceeded our expectations. In fact, the photos in the ad were so good that when we step into the unit it felt like a familiar place. It was our privilege to stay there and thanks for making it available.

Go and have fun. Private and confortable.
Mike and Jacque F. May 19, 2012
This place was fine but the bathroom small and dated and being on the main floor with the master bedroom visable from the outside except for a tree in front of the window did not work for us. We will want to stay on the second or third floor next time.
Anonymous April 16, 2013
The location was great for us. The property is worn and dated, the shower didn't work well and other things were not up to par but it was clean. The management co. had a take it or leave it attitude and were not helpful at all, in fact they are somewhat rude. I ask for a ground floor and was told yes but it had 2 flights of stairs to get to it. All in all it was ok but I would not stay there again.
Marvin R. January 24, 2013
Overhead lights/fans in LR and BR didn't work but lamps were adequate. Didn't ned to use AC. Loved the pool and swim towels provided. TV/Wi-Fi were fine. Washer/Dryer worked great. Comfy bed. Quiet and beautiful location--close enough to buy food but still "in the country" feel on North Shore.
Caroline Y. December 21, 2012
I rented this condo for my parents and myself and we had a very enjoyable stay. Excellent price and very comfortable furnitures. The place was clean, it had all the cooking equipments we needed, we were able to do our laundry and it was quiet and relaxing. The place was decorated tastefully and the couch and the bed were comfortable to sleep on. The remote control for the fan and lights ran out of batteries so that was one small inconvenience. The fan in the bathroom may be overly loud for those with sensitive ears. The little lanai at the back facing the golf course is a great place to enjoy the cool wind and it was really fun for my Dad to drive by our condo with his golf cart one morning. I would recommend this condo for those who come to the North Shore.

overall, our stay in August 2012 for 2 nights was good. the townhome is clean and updated. we love that it has FREE WIFI. I think I overpaid though there are $99/night on other websites.

The Kuilima Estates condos is an ideal place for an extended stay... lots of activities on resort but some activities may be overpriced... but you be the judge... However there are still so many other activities that are very reasonable. A hike, snorkeling, surfing (with your own equipment) walks on the beach, the sunsets won't cost you a cent. Our unit was nicely updgraded which made it easier to keep clean. Lots of extra sports equipment for available our use. A full kitchen and the washer & dryer is what makes staying at these condo most advantageous.. Home away from home. With a flat TV & wireless internet cable both a necessity for us on such an extended stay. The management company, Estates at Turtle Bay was the BEST... very receptive to our concerns and was prompt and professional in resolving any issue. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the lanai furniture. The plastic chairs and the stained and dirty table was not very inviting or comfortable.
David E. October 14, 2012
Property was in a good location for the North Shore, howevere unit was a little disapointing there where two other couples staying at the same property and their units were far better maintained then the one we stayed in. We had an ant problem in the unit, the other units one also being a gound unit did not, but having said that everything else was fine, would stay at this property (not same unit) if we were to be in this area again.

I loved the size of this rental for my family of 4. My husband and I traveled with an almost 3 yr old son and an almost 6 mo old daughter. We were able to pay $20 for a pack n play and the bedroom was large enough to set up the pack & play in there. My son slept out on the fold out mattress. I slept on the fold out for the first night too and it was actually comfortable. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable as well although a little hot with the temperpetic pad on top. We had no problem with noise from other neighbors.
The location was perfect for a smaller family as well. We were able to use the pools a lot as well as walk the 5-7 min walk down to Turtle Bay. I loved that there was 2 different pools for kids so we usually had very little people there. Also, the Turtle Bay Beach was great and protected by rocks and reef so very little waves and calm water which was perfect for our son to learn to swim and play.
Only thing I'd mention is buy ground coffee or bring your grinder. :)

Everything was great! The parking was so convenient. The beach chairs and boogie boards were a plus. No complaints here. Thanks again for having us. My 5 and 7 year olds want to be back ASAP.

Wonderful experience. We hope to stay here again!
