We had a fabulous 8 night stay at Seaclusion. After much research of rentals, we chose this home based on its location on the water and within walking distance of town. Having rented many villas throughout the Caribbean and as fellow vacation home owners, we were very impressed with how well stocked the home was from kitchen utensils, cookware, appliances to cleaning supplies. The outdoor patio is the place to be with outstanding views of the waves crashing into the lava rocks and beautiful sunrises. We were lucky enough to see dolphins too right off shore too. While some previous renters complained about the lack of air conditioning in main part of house, we enjoyed our time outside and found the air in the master to be more than sufficient. We were just a couple, so we had no need for the downstairs bedroom, but would recommend it for teen age aged kids, rather than a second couple or small children.
The only thing we would change would be having a King size bed in the master, but again, it did not detract from an amazing stay.
Thank you to the owners who opened their beautiful home to us!

The location alone earns 5 stars, and keeps those 5 stars. The house is on the rocks overlooking the ocean with a beautiful palm tree to the left and a large banyan next door to the right. Waves crash on the rocks and lull you into a tropical mood almost immediately. We saw 1 whale and dozens of spinner dolphins would come by every few days. The deck is the place to be.
The house itself is very functional with a few caveats. It is a stretch to say "like new." It would be awkward for 2 couples as the downstairs is nothing compared to the upstairs (put the kids downstairs). Not enough basic supplies like toilet paper, hand soap, etc. provided. We had to purchase more 1/2 way thru our stay. Kitchen is well appointed but needs sharp knives and a kettle or teapot. The pool is big enough for 3 to relax on floats but was not ready when we arrived and we had to turn off the water the next day once full. Trash was not removed before or during our stay. Overall, communication is not great. For example, other homestays have resource notebooks indicating if you need to take trash out and what day, how the hot water works (solar, be aware of showers in the morning), where local stores are and some recommendations.
Putting these things aside, the view and location more than compensated for us. We spent hours on the deck with the wall of windows wide open to let the winds blow thru. We cooked many meals and dined to the sound of the ocean and birds. You can walk to Kailua in 10-15 minutes for shopping/dining/drinks. There are a few swimming beaches within 15 minutes’ walk as well. We would recommend a car as groceries are more limited close by and you will want to explore.
We will likely stay here again in the future as the view/location are outstanding.

The initial glitch of not finding the email with instructions to check in was scary...but quickly resolved. It was there all along....just not from Red Awning where I expected it to come from. Never met Wayne...although he was very responsive to a minor issue. Seclusion lacks for is turnkey...impeccably clean, high end and we had a wonderful stay. The only thing I will mention is this really is a place for one couple...two bedrooms ...spoiled by the master suite...but the second bedroom has a separate entrance from the main house and does not compare to the master. The setting on the ocean is amazing...pool sparkled and refreshing....although this is right on the water please note there is no access to the ocean for swimming or snorkeling due to the waves crashing on the lava rocks. Also the bedroom are air-conditioned...but the main house is not. Being there in July at first it bothered us but honestly we were comfortable the whole week...
Book this gorgeous will not be disappointed!

We rented here for the location, which was even better than we expected. When we arrived, the house turned out to be so much better than we expected too, as the picures don't capture the total package. Well appointed and so comfortable. One wall opens up, and all you see and hear is ocean, which is a dream We would love to stay here again. The extra, detached bedroom and bath is downstairs, nice for privacy, but not for young children. This worked for our group of four. Great house, great location. So relaxing and a great find!

We have been vacationing in Kona for 28 years. This was our first time to stay on the oceanfront. We loved the house and the large lanai on the water where we spent most of our time. The house had everything we needed and was close to Kona village. We always love to eat at Huggo's for sunsets but because of the privacy and gorgeous sunsets with the sound of the waves thrashing against the shore we dined at home more often. It was a very peaceful and relaxing home and we would definitely rent it again for our next trip to Kona.

Spent three nights here in October 2013, and loved every minute of it. Beautiful home with very interesting architectural features, fantastic location with panoramic views of the water. Wayne was extremely professional and easy to work with. The master bed room was an absolute pleasure to sleep in, the jacuzzi was awesome. The guest bedroom - which is downstairs and has its own entrance - has two twins, and is extremely comfortable; again with panoramic views of the water (as noted by others, the separate entrance would make this less than ideal if you were traveling with a child). Close to Kona but away from the din. The downside? We spent a LOT of time at home! Totally zen.

We thoroughly enjoyed out time in this home. It was very convenient for our race purposes, being just 1.5 miles from the race start. It was clean, and the AC in the bedrooms worked well. The property manager was very responsive to emails. A couple of things needed to be fixed, but they were minor issues. The property is directly on the water, and the patio is great. I would rent it again.

Location Awesome,The property management company not professional at all you should be greeting your guests or a Simple phone call to welcome guests,The main TV did was not working when we are arrived had to get help spectrum
Fan in bedroom not working several lights not working and swimming pool not clean on arrival. this property has great potential just needs a bit more love .When you are paying premium your management company should have checked everthing. I should not be writing this.Having dealt with management company on a previous occasion I would not use then again. But I would stay here again place is well equipped lots off room upstairs, downstairs is small though we did ask ask for doulbe bed when we booked. But also did not happen

We absolutely loved this house. My family and I had the best time and the location was great. We never wanted to leave the house. No air conditioner in the living room, and it was very hot/humid but both bedrooms had A/C and were nice and cool. The checkout instructions asked us to wash towels but there was no laundry soap that we could find. So we had to buy it....that was the only bummer. Over all this place is great and if we come back we would love to stay here again!!

We had a great time at Kona Bay Seaclusion!! Wonderful amenities, lots and lots of room, and you can't beat the view. The master bedroom is amazing with a great view and wonderful doors that open right to the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked and everything worked well. If i had one gripe its that the pool water evaporated by about a foot and there were no instructions for how to fill it back up.

We stayed the third week of august. The house did not disappoint. Coffee on the lanai every morning is something you will look forward to. The view is absolutely spectacular. Spinner dolphins appeared daily. The two bedrooms are air-conditioned, the living room is not. Keeping the front and back screen doors open until bedtime allowed for a decent cross breeze. My Ten year old daughter stayed in the downstairs bedroom which has a separate entrance. I was at first concerned she would not be ok with that , or myself for that matter . I was pleasantly surprised that she loved it. She preferred to go back and forth from the backdoors of the house instead of the front. Instead of eating out frequently we stocked up at the local l Safeway and cooked/grilled for ourselves. Saved a ton of money and with that view who needs to go to a restaurant. The house could use a new grill, which is why I give the amenities four stars instead of five. It was functional , but grilling is a favorite of mine and in my opinion its time for a replacement. Management was great, personable and responded quickly to
any questions . The location is great ! A short drive from the airport and Kona.
Overall we were very happy with the house and I highly recommend this location for your stay on the big island !

I've used the internet many times before, and sometimes properties are not as nice 'in person' as they look in the photos --- not so with Kona Bay Seaclusion. This property is nicer than the photos show. We enjoyed the stay and the location was perfect.

For the upscale nature of the property, it was disappointing that there were no simple amenities like tissues or a hair drier. The master bedrom bedroom tv didn't work and there was no dvd as indicated. Though all of my correspondence with prop manager had been about a specific week, when I contacted him the day before arrival, he pointed out my contract was for the following week. HUH? Fortunately, the house was available and there was no problem. I've rented many other times before, never with no many hassles.

The location is amazing. The house is spacious and furnished nicely. There were too many little nagging issues for the property to be considered awesome. It's apparent the owners are very conscientious about spending on maintenance. The screens are unable to stop the bugs because they are either torn, don't close properly, or rusting off their tracks. I've rented homes through VRBO many times and every property has issues. When the issues infringe on my limited vacation days I feel compelled to write about it. On day 5 of our stay the elements on the range refused to turn off. I found the breaker panel and forced the stove to turn off. I called the manager and he had a repair guy at the house 4 days later. The wiring harness was charred and brittle. Not only inoperative but dangerous. The repair guy cobbled it together and got it working on our last day there. The food I had planned on cooking went bad and we spent more time in local restaurants than we wanted to. Gourmet kitchens are only good if you can use them. Had the manager offered us an electric element from Wal Mart this review would be very different. If the owners were to replace the broken air conditioner on the main floor, and get a new stove I'd rent this place again. The house deserves to be air conditioned properly. Like all VRBO houses, the description is deceptive and misleading. The "pool" is actually a giant plunge style pool. No filtration or skimmer just a watering hole next to the ocean. Pretty certain the pool is frequently drained into the ocean and refilled. The ocean area directly in front of the pool looks bleached out. It's a great house with an incredible view just don't expect the moon. Not willing to recommend it as is, but with proper maintenance this place could be fantastic.
Disclaimer: The property manager gave us a nights credit after I badgered him about the broken stove.

The home was perfect for our party of four! We loved the house and waking up each morning to a wonderful view. The walk to town was easy and it was nice to enjoy the area. The owners have stocked the house with everything you need for a relaxing week in Kona.

My wife and I absolutely loved staying at this home, and we're so glad that it was available during our vacation.

The description of the home on the website is accurate -- and if anything, it might sell the house a little short. The house is beautiful inside and out, it's well maintained, it has many great amenities (e.g., Bose stereo, gas BBQ, etc.), and it's surprisingly private for a waterfront home. In fact, the home is so nice, so well maintained, and has so many great amenities that it doesn't feel like a rental house. Also, the views from the living room, bedroom, deck, and pool are nothing short of spectacular.

Administratively, we also had a great, no-nonsense, no-drama experience with the owner's property manager. He was friendly, helpful, and responsive in all of our dealings with him.

In sum, I can recommend this property without reservation or hesitation -- particularly to a couple or small family. We hope to rent it again sometime.

This lovely home is perfectly located in Kona with spectacular views of the ocean. We usually go out for dinner on vacations but spent most evenings home since the view from the deck exceeded that at most restaurants.

We came here for our delayed honeymoon (reaching our 5-yr anniversary). This is an outstanding property for couples or a double date, since the 2nd bed & bath is attached but completely separate from the main living & master suite. Very modern, cozy, private, and well supplied with linens, utensils, etc. The location of the property was ideal (near both local and touristy businesses and right off of a useful road). The reservation process was a breeze. I found this on VRBO after combing through all the resort websites that ask for $500 for a room w/o an ocean view or possibly a fridge). Thank goodness I found this property.

Great location with the ocean at your feet! Clean, modern house with gorgeous landscaping. Close to everything.

Wonderful place! Looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful property. We saw dolphins each day. Would recommend to family and friends. Mature banana trees concealed many geckos for our daughters to find. Pool had new water for our stay. Concrete deck had comfortable furniture. Superb.

Comfortably accommodated 4 of us. Well equipped, great ocean views & the pool was a welcome addition. A little too far from the centre to walk to and from which was disappointing and could do with better info inside the property regarding how to find & operate various amenities (eg fans, washing machine etc)as well as info on trash recycling which was missing. Overall a good property and a relaxing stay.
Michael G. September 14, 2008
Great place--but we felt the rental was misrepresented as a 2 bedroom since the 2nd BR did not have access from inside the house--this was not good with a child under 12 yrs. old--
Mark N. January 7, 2013
Enjoyed property but gas grill was totally rusted out and unusable. Well appointed, good loction. We were there during a high surf period which proved to be loud, especially at night.
Anonymous August 27, 2012
Overall everything was exactly as was described. Sunsets and the views were great.
Maureen L. November 7, 2017
We were very happy with the house and amenities. Great location, walking distance to town. House is set back off Alii Drive, very private. Amazing views and sunsets. Pool was perfect for a dip. The kitchen / living area has an open, spacious design. The master bedroom was a good size and had a nice layout. Beautiful views right from bed! Second bedroom is small and has a separate entrance. It is not part of the main house. Would not advise this rental if you had younger children.

When we arrived the house was clean with a few minor exceptions. The large window / ledge area above the kitchen sink had not been wiped down. There were one too many dead bugs to have to see. When we went to use the dishwasher, it was completely full, so we had to re-run it. Also, previous reviews mentioned torn screens. This is still the case. We came across quite a few that are still in need of repair, especially the front entrance way screen.

Overall a really nice rental.
Todd W. July 19, 2013
From the moment we drove up to the property, both my new wife and I felt like we were living a dream. The house location was ideal, the furniture was perfect, the kitchen was gourmet and the pool was refreshing. All of these things added up to the perfect Honeymoon and a surreal vacation. If summer homes were basketball stars ... This is Kobe and LeBron in one player (aka. too good to be true)
Martin M. October 20, 2013
General it has been a very nice stay, cleaness is improvable, location is awesome,if I arrive late night at the day of starting rental and will leave instead of 3pm at 6pm at the last day of rental it would be fair not to be charges for half day more
