The location was great and beach access was excellent. All amenities were functioning properly and clean. Great amount of kitchen gadgets and dishes. The upstairs carpet was very dirty, which likely added to the gooey coating on the tile floors in the lower level also. We will stay here again!

It was a great week. We enjoyed the private beach and the swimming pool. The unit was in great shape and met our needs.

This was our 2nd stay in Hale Mahina # 403 and we had a wonderful time. The grounds, the pool and hot tub and best little beach in Maui keep bringing us back every year. Larry, the property manager, keeps the grounds and pool immaculate. It’s a quiet noisy parties after 10....we like that!
Being just a stones throw away from the ocean with amazing views from the Lanai and listening to the waves at night keep bringing us back .
We really appreciated the new sofa ,comfortable, and new washer and dryer...easy to use. While we were there they reupholstered the dining chairs too. We had a little trouble working the new Tv and the property manager, Herb, made a couple of trips to our condo to help us out with that and he was such a pleasure to work with...and he came immediately...hooray!
The property was very clean ,it has the best equipped kitchen , both bathrooms are really nice and beds are comfortable. The front bedrooms in this complex are a little noisy from traffic...but earplugs work.
My very favorite thing always are watching the turtles swim up and down in front of the condo...and they often sleep right on the beach...I love them?
Maui is an amazing island with so much to do...we always have wonderful adventures here...aloha

First, you have to understand how these properties work. There are property owners and there are unit owners. The property owners do a fantastic job. The grounds are immaculate, the beach is awesome (especially when the turtles come up to sun in the sand) and the pool and hot tub are well maintained, although a bit too warm on the hot tub for my taste. There is free parking. It's a little tight but we managed to park our full size SUV doing some 8 point turning.

Unit owners are responsible for the condition of their unit and it's contents and this is where my negative review comes from. A403 is horrible and I strongly recommend you find a unit other than this one. People have complained about the upstairs bed and downstairs furniture for some time now and the property rental company continues to respond they are working with the owner to do updates. When I read those responses from a year ago, I rented assuming they would be addressed. They weren't. I don't blame the property rental company, but the owner who is obviously happy to take the income but put nothing back into the unit.

There isn't a single comfortable space to sit downstairs other than the lanai. We wanted to spend most of our time out there, but to have no comfortable options indoors to maybe watch a movie or hang out was really disappointing. The couch is beat down so low it's tilted forward and hard to even get out of. The cushions slide out from under you. It has tears in it. There are two old rattan chairs with worn, dirty cushions. The dining chairs are also rattan and have cushions so old and worn they have holes in them.

We slept in the king bed upstairs and one side slopes big time. And it's not the floor. The mattress and box spring are shot.

Despite all of these things we made the most out of our vacation and enjoyed all that the property had to offer. We just went home with aching backs and feeling like we got ripped off considering how much money as w

We have stayed at this complex many times. This unit had many minor issues such as, cooktop not working, toilet running, lights not working, damaged washing machine, TV service worked intermittently, threadbare dining chairs, uncomfortable furniture. All minor inconveniences, but not something you want to deal with while on vacation. Property manager was great to work with.
Noemi T. May 2, 2017
Great location with small swimming beach. Turtles abound! The only "issue" is that the loft bedroom does not have a window and is dark. Removing the top curtains in the main living space would help alleviate this but we couldn't figure out how to open them to let light in upstairs. Other than that, we enjoyed the property. Chocolates on arrival was a very nice touch!

We live the location. This is the 2nd time in the building but the first time in a 403. This units needs up dating asap. We were very disappointed in seeing that one of the beds were being held up by a kitchen. Gadget and the couch has a huge rip. We did go with out the washer for 2 days as well. I still enjoyed my time as we didnt spend much time in the condo but I will not stay in a 403 again unless they update

This was our 3rd trip to Maui over the years as their is so much to see and do on Maui. Was able to check off Maui zip line this trip along with more snorkeling to see coral reefs and sea turtle, can't wait for trip number four. The unit we rented from Maui Lodging Properties provided the best accommodations yet, right up their with a four star hotel without the cost.
Anonymous July 6, 2015
Our stay in Maui was for 8 nights so we wanted accommodations that was more like a home than a hotel. Our decision to stay at Hale Mahina could not have been more perfect. The condo was clean and spacious, with so many amenities! The kitchen was well supplied with everything from plates, pots, Margarita glasses to a blender and coffee maker. There were 2 huge TV's..but with the beautiful view from the lanai, we never turned them on. We were a short walk to a few local shops to rent bikes, snorkel and board equipment from as well as a natural grocer, coffee, food and a farmers market. The private beach was amazing with turtles swimming by as well as incredible sea life for viewing with snorkels. There never was a time where it felt crowded and it was very clean and tidy. A short drive takes you to Lahina and great surfing along the way. We would highly recommend this rental and are planning on making this location an annual family trip in the future.
Michael M. February 7, 2018
Great view of the ocean. Rental was well kept with plenty of housewares. It was a little warm at times even with the windows open and street noise was a bit bothersome at night for bedrooms on the street-side of the building. The pool is not heated so the water is about the same temp as the Pacific. As with most places in Lahaina parking is tight but not impossible unless you're impatient. Able to see many whales nearby and a green sea turtle spent several hours on the small beach. Mattress in one of the bedroom was not very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked and staff was responsive. The balcony was great.

Wonderful location with great views.
Glenn I. February 19, 2018
Stayed here Feb 2018 for 11 nights. Great location and beach. Living Room & Bedroom furniture are bad. LR Sofa has a tear in arm and cushions and support are terrible. LR has a large armoire with an obsolete box TV & VCR that should be removed to give more room. The large flat screen TV mounted in LR is very nice. Dining chairs are old and cushions threadbare. Dining table is too low and a person's legs won't fit under if he/she is 6' or taller. Both beds are uncomfortable and loft bed slopes. 1st floor Bathroom has broken sconce and ceiling was repaired but left unsanded. Kitchen was good and roomy. Floors were wood and tile throughout and very nice. Place is reasonably roomy. No gas grill on property makes grilling inconvenient. Must buy charcoal to cook. Pool is unheated and too cold (colder than ocean). Grounds are beautiful and nicely kept. We have stayed at 7 properties in the area over the past 12 years. Hale Mahina beach and entry to ocean were the finest. Condo condition was the worst we have rented. Management company was responsive when wifi was out and to questions. Herb was very nice.

Overall our stay was wonderful, and we loved the property, the condo, the view, Larry the on site manager, everything. The only issue we had was the major construction of solar installation going on while we were there that we were not informed about prior to our stay. I work in heavy construction and we had booked another condo in the neighborhood who informed us there would be some significant renovation construction going on during our stay and offered us a significant discount for the inconvenience. I turned down the discount and cancelled that reservation because I listen to construction every day at work and really wanted some peace and quiet. Not being informed of the construction definitely was upsetting and affected the relaxing mood we were hoping for. That being said this is a gorgeous oceanfront property in a great location with great grounds, great views, nice pool....Maui the way we love it.

Hale Marina was recommended to me by my sister who has stayed there many times. We loved the location, the view, the beach and the nightly visit from the turtles. I would definitely go back to Hale Mahina however I wouldn’t stay in the same unit unless they got some upgrades. The unit we stayed in was quite dingy with horrible bedding and living room seating. It was our first time on a holiday in 7 years so I was a bit inexperienced in shopping the units. Now that I’ve been there I would be more picky about which unit I choose. When I rate the property the lower rating is based on the unit not the overal property.

It was a good experience for rental a property. We really enjoyed it.
Cammy U. February 8, 2016
The place and view was beautiful. My only complaint was a dishwasher issue was not resolved before we checked in. The property manager (Fred) was great to work with and we told him to wait until we checked out to resolve it so we weren't inconvenienced but honestly I didn't enjoy having to wash dishes by hand. I would request some discount put back on our credit card due to this.

Property Excellent maintained - the pool / and outdoor grills were daily cleaned
AMAZING views and best beach on the coast CLOSE to the water.
The unit was a fair value for what it is. Well furnished / towels / beach stuff /
The back bedroom is VERY noisy due to road traffic even at midnight --& 4:20am when the garbage truck comes by -- NOTICE there is NO AC in this unit so you have to keep your windows open to keep the unit somewhat cool. BUT this adds to the street noise. The wifi is slow & poor coverage in the house. All the pillows need to be replaced as well as the back bedroom mattress. The management company is VERY responsive when there is a problem. Great central location

This was our second time staying at Hale Mahina and the first time in this particular unit. We love the location and private beach and pool. The property is always kept very well. This unit was a little smaller than the one we stayed in in the "B" building, but was fine for two adults. The only recommendation I would have is to provide more comfortable seating in the living room area.
Anonymous May 17, 2016
This property is beautiful. Very well maintained. Stayed four days in April. Weather was great. The sea turtle visited us on the beach every day. Location is great - short drive to grocery and farmers market. The unit was very nice. It was great to have all the windows open and hear the ocean to put us to sleep!
Robert S. July 6, 2018
Unit is pleasant but definitely Italy needs updating badly.
Melinda C. November 24, 2016
We had a wonderful time in A403 at Hale Mahina. Everything was great.
Anonymous August 10, 2016
This was our second stay at Hale Mahina, and our first (but not last) in this unit. It has everything I want in a vacation rental:
1) Nothing but water to see out the window (and all units face the ocean).
2) Master bedroom that also faces the ocean.
3) Swimmable, never crowded beach directly in front of the property.
4) A truly private balcony (Bldg A only).
5) Small, quiet complex.
Can't beat a top floor unit with a loft master bedroom facing the ocean. You can see both the islands of Lanai and Molokai from the balcony. The unit was clean, and well stocked with kitchen necessities and beach items. Both real beds were comfortable, although the king size in the loft is incredibly high. The property is beautiful with a great sandy beach and sea turtles swimming by all day long. There is also a small pool that’s never crowded or noisy.
This unit is perfect for a family with teens and small children. Something to note if you're planning to use the full occupancy of 6:
As with pretty much all sleeper sofas, the one in this unit is unusable as a bed by an adult, and is also a pretty bad couch. (I wish more vacation rentals would just put in a futon couch.) Also, adults vacationing together might want to be aware that neither bedroom is truly private. The master is a loft open to the living room, and the second bedroom is open at the vaulted ceiling, and only has a shoji screen type door.
That said, this unit is perfect for our family of 4. We loved staying here and will definitely be back on our next visit to Maui.

Simply a wonderful experience. Super clean condo with everything you need. The views of the ocean are incredible. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay while in Maui. We will be back.
Anonymous February 11, 2017
The property was perfect! Small enough to enjoy the pool and private beach without hassle. The grounds were maintained beautifully. The condo was beautiful, 4th floor has outstanding ocean/beach view from the lanai. The beds were the most comfortable!! The decor was beautiful, the kitchen stocked very well with dishes, pots and pans. The property management company has very friendly & professional people, very responsive to all communications. I highly recommend this to Maui travelers
Dennis R. February 5, 2017
We had a wonderful time, our condo was right on what turned out to be a private beach along with a great pool. Turtles were on the beach almost every day and the compound was not crowded and there were lots of lounge chairs. The view from our Lanai was great and the whales put on great shows for us. There was lots of parking which made things easier. Overall a great getaway from the snow and cold back home.
\Matthew S. February 26, 2017
The only bad thing I can say about this property is that I didn't know about it sooner... excellent location, excellent views, nice beach and quite surroundings.
Will definitely be back... only serious very minor mishap.. check in is a little confusing because it is off site.. very minor issue
Betty T. April 5, 2013
Overall Hale Mahina is a fabulous place to stay! The location and beach are perfect and the unit was spacious and bright with a fabulous view! The kitchen is very well stocked and it was easy to cook and feed our family of six there. Loved watching the whales from our Lanai and the visits on the beach of the turtles! Two little improvements we would suggest - the hide-a-bed in the living room needs replacing and it would be nice to have a wet mop to mop the floors regularly (we had kids with us)! And Steve and the staff at Mauilodgings could not have been better from our first inquiry to replacing the dryer! Mahalo!
Matthew O. May 26, 2013
We have stayed at Hale Mahina Condos 3 times so far and we love it, nice pretty private beach, condos are great, everything you need to enjoy your vacation.
Anonymous January 14, 2017
Wow.. what a wonderful experience. The condo was so comfortable, spacious, clean, had an incredible view from the large lanai (right on the ocean). We saw whales and turtles from the lanai too. There's a great farmers market close by, and it is easily accessible to many other attractions and activities.
Stan P. November 1, 2013
We had everything we needed in the condo for our three week stay, only 6 miles from Front Street where you can shop, eat and shop, then go back to the condo where you can get all the sun, beach, and some turtles that come on the beach to get a little sun. Then wait for that perfect Sunset.
Anonymous August 25, 2013
We love love love the condo (great location, fully stocked kitchen, and unbelievable view from the lanai). Note: ice maker not working, microwave needs upgrade, TV in master bedroom not working, and screen door needs fixing.
Anonymous February 20, 2017
Hale Mahina itself is ideal: a maximum of two buildings and four stories, so you can always see what's going on down on the excellent beach. The beach is ideal for most water activities, and the views spectacular. The resident manager here diligently maintains spotless grounds and pool/hot tub facilities (though as usual with this complex, the hot tub is about ten degrees too hot, and the pool ten degrees too cold, and no amount of complaining ever changes this). This unit in particular, A403, could use some upgrades. First, there are no potholders/oven mitts. I broiled dinner in the oven one evening, but struggled to get the dish out of the oven safely using only the provided kitchen towels. For safe handling of hot dishes, there should be real oven mitts. Second, no hooks in the bathroom downstairs. No place to hang clothes or towels except a single towel bar. No place to hang wet swimsuits. Third, the living/dining seating is cheap, dated-looking, inadequate, and uncomfortable. The loveseat cushions were constantly sliding off; rearranging them was a constant chore. Chair cushions are dated, dingy, and thin. The bamboo-framed rocking chair was not at all comfortable, and I didn’t use it. Fourth, there is only one portable folding beach chair (the other folding chair is not all that portable, has wood armrests, etc.), one partial set of snorkel gear, and two beach umbrellas. No boogie boards. I think the unit should have a set of four portable beach chairs, at least two boogie boards, and at least two sets of snorkel gear.
Faria E. October 19, 2016
everything else was excellent with one exception . This unit did not have A/C . There was couple nights that was very hot and made it uncomfortable to rest without A/C
Alan C. December 15, 2012
Everything was close to perfect. We would love to come back again.
Anonymous March 12, 2014
We have enjoyed staying at this property for several years. Hale Mahina has beautifully maintained grounds and the location is great. A-403 is a nice unit with some recent upgrades. Although there are still some items that need attention, it is a comfortable unit with great views. However, the smoking situation at Hale Mahina made our stay this year very unpleasant. There were a number of guests and owners smoking cigarettes and cigars all day and evening, both on the lawn and on some lanais (balconies). This would start as early as 7am. Many days we were unable to use our lanai and had to close our doors and windows in an unsuccessful effort to keep the smell out of our unit. Many renters complained to the management, but it is up to the owners and the condo board to change the smoking rules for the complex. I hope this issue can be resolved because this is otherwise a very nice place to stay on Maui.
Anonymous October 2, 2013
I think that we were there during a particularly hot week, the second floor bedroom would be so much more comfortable with some air conditioning. Other than that the condo was perfect!
Tibeno E. April 30, 2013
I give Hale Mahina a A. convenience, view as water front, grounds etc...thank you to Maui Lodging Properties, i love to come back one day...
Anonymous March 15, 2014
We had a wonderful 12 nights at A403 Hale Mahina. The unit had everything you could want with fantastic views and immaculate grounds. We had frequent visits from turtles on the beach and saw whales breaching offshore most days.
Breanne W. September 27, 2013
Absolutely loved our stay. The beach was so close, and perfect for snorkeling and just floating in the waves. We saw turtles almost every day in the water and sometimes on the beach, that was a first out of our many stays in Hawaii! Such a small and quiet condominium, which we loved. And it was nice to have lots of grassy area to lounge in, as well as the sandy beach. And lounge chairs provided, so great! We would definitely stay here again!
Jeanine M. March 22, 2013
We loved our mother/daughter stay at Hale Mahina #403. Our unit was a one bedroom with bath downstairs and large loft with full bath upstairs. If it was two couples, one might want more privacy since the downstairs bedroom has thin sliding shoji doors and upstairs king bed is an open loft (as all the loft units have same set up as far as I can tell in this complex) But it was perfect for us so we could communicate without running up and down stairs. The unit was tastefully decorated and really appreciated the huge flat screen tv. The unit's view overlooking the beach and ocean were great and the balcony was really private from adjoining units. We hope to visit again next year!
Anonymous September 2, 2013
The property management tried, but there was a time lag in repairs and the unit is smaller than others in which we have stayed. This is the 7th year we have stayed at the Hale Mahina. We were excited to be back and looking forward to a nice sunset on our arrival from Hana only to be met with a broken screen door to the lanai, broken ice maker, no shower head on the downstairs shower, broken blender that leaked all over the place, only one potholder, ghost ants that the other units seem to keep in check, a broken closet door and an upstairs loft with a solid half wall that impedes the air flow and blocks the view ( other units have spindle railings). Bree and Steve were very nice and attentive and we understood that some things take time to repair in the islands, however, the handy man fixing another unit, the lanai door and no ice maker were little things that could have been fixed. The overall experience put a damper on the last leg of our trip. Whereas this is usually the favorite ending to our trip we will look for a different unit next year. That said, the view was wonderful, the management and property managers were responsive to the extent possible and the location is perfect.
Donald U. May 28, 2014
As last year the people at Maui Lodging were professional, courteous, and met all our needs. We will be staying again next year.
Anonymous November 17, 2013
Had a great time here (our first visit to Hawaii). The view could not be matched and having our own private beach was amazing. We toured down in kihei where most people stay and it wasn't even comparible to this condo. The hide a bed does need a new mattress and there could be one or two comfy chairs but other than that it was amazing. Listening to the roar of the surf, turtles on the beach, surfers right out front! Close to everything you need. We will be back one day for sure!
Anonymous April 28, 2014
While the location was great, the condo was very run down. The bedding was terrible, many repairs were needed and it badly needed paint. The basic cleaning was done, but there was a lot of long term grime. Would not recommend to friends. Saw other condos in the same price range that were so much nicer.
Stan P. November 18, 2014
Our third stay at Holly Mahina love the place can't wait to come back next year
Shane/Enid M. April 22, 2014
We were so thrilled with Hale Mahina! It exceeded our expectations by far! It has the most incredible location right on the beach, views could not have been better! We loved how quiet it was and how laid back the beach & pool area was! Even walking into the village was so nice, getting coffee and having an organic market so nearby! The kids loved playing in the waves and saw numerous sea turtles...a few even came up on the beach! The condo kitchen was well stocked with every pan & utensil you could think of. There were a few things that needed updating & touching up but overall we were very satisfied and will definitely be back.

Can not wait to go back in the spring
Anonymous April 3, 2015
The Hale Mahina is a wonderful property located literally steps from the ocean. The grounds are kept clean and manicured and our particular unit, 403A, was a very nice, well-equipped unit. Additionally, there were a few minor issues and Herb from Maui Lodging was always very quick to address things and always with a smile. Since I received mail at least weekly in the Maui Lodging offices, I had a lot of interaction with Bree and Toddy, both very nice women who are a real asset to Maui Lodging. The only downside was around March 10 or so, what had been a wonderful, peaceful six weeks on Maui (we arrived February 1) turned into a loud, chaotic place overrun by unruly children, most of whose parents either didn't notice or didn't care that these little noise makers were making it unpleasant for the rest of us. Additionally, with a constant rotation of people coming from the Mainland with a five- to six-hour time difference, these kids would be up and ready to hit the beach at 5 am. I was woke up numerous times before 6:30 a.m. by kids (and adults) talking loudly in the hallways and by the elevators. I did notice one time Larry, the resident manager, told the kids to stop screaming in the pool and as soon as he turned his back, they started screaming again. Their mother observed the whole thing and, to my eye, did nothing to try to bring her kids' noise level down to an acceptable level. Suffice it to say, I loved the Hale Mahina, loved the unit, loved Maui Lodging, but hated the unruly children with parents who didn't seem to give a darn.
Shelly D. August 28, 2014
Loved it, I am looking forward to coming back nothing better than sitting on the Lani and watching the turtles swim by. The grounds were kept beautifully. The only thing that I would suggest is that the rugs really could use a deep cleaning.
