It was a wonderful and relaxing trip. It was so beautiful with all the leaves changing colors. We saw three bears .

This was our second year visit and this time we brought family with us who was visiting from Australia. They loved views, property and we truly felt among the clouds. We will be back again.

friendly staff who worked overtime to ensure a great experience

This is a very nice and clean mountain getaway. The house was just as described. We had a great time playing pool and relaxing in the hot tub after long days exploring Gatlinburg, Pidgeon Forge, and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Beautiful area with plenty to do. Other than the surprisingly steep driveway to this house, everything was perfect.

This is a truly serene mountain setting. I have stayed with Chalet Village many times and have always been completely satisfied, Definitely recommend.

Before I decided to stay here, I read every review and tons of other reviews of other places in the area. Yes, I'm OCD.
Let's start with the bad:
I read the review "1.7 miles of terror." I wouldn't exactly call it terror. BUT I would advise that you try to arrive in the daytime while it is easier to see.
I came after dark, and I lived to tell about it. Yes, it is a curvy mountain road. I stayed in January, so I drove my 4x4 Jeep Cherokee. We received a half of inch of snow, and it made the driveway slick for a day, so we stayed in and enjoyed the property.
If you have a car that sits low to the ground, you will need to be careful on a couple of the turns.
I also read another review that stated that the people did not feel safe due to people accessing the roller coaster gate that is near the property.
I am not sure what they are referring to since the house has an alarm system.
There are a few other petty things that I could talk about like, the pool sticks were beaten up, or a chair needed to be replaced at the kitchen table, but that would be stupid, so I will skip that. ;)

The Good:
-Hot tub
-Gas Fireplace (for those coming in the winter)
-Pool table (Bring your sticks, if you're a serious player)
-The view (This alone is worth it)
-Private (There isn't another house in view unless you count the one you can see across the valley)
-Tons of Room (You can hang out in the room that has the pool table and TV or down in the living room)
-Furniture is nice
-Super Clean

I think I covered everything.

P.S. Follow the directions that the rental company gives you. We followed our navigation on our phones, and it had us going all over the side of that mountain.

We had a very nice time. The fall leaves were beautiful.

We absolutely loved our cabin. It was very clean and well maintained. The view was phenomenal. We would’ve loved to have stayed longer but had to go back home for work. We definitely recommend this house to anyone who’s looking to stay high up in the mountains, this house is the perfect place! The road getting there is a little sketchy just because of how narrow the roads are but the house makes it worth it. We can’t wait to come back again!

We had a great experience at this rental property! The drive is rather steep but well worth the view and seclusion! We would often times take the short ride into Gatlinburg for the day, then spend our evenings grilling, and using the hot tub to enjoy the beautiful view. If you don’t like driving the incline, we also used uber once or twice. Affordable and stress free!! Would definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at the rental. If the weather had been nicer, we would have gotten to enjoy the decks. We were gone a lot so we didn't see any bears from the cottage, but did see in the park. The rental was as described. The only draw back was the road to get to the rental. I thought that since we were from WV, that the road wouldn't be as bad as some described, however, it was. It is a more that 2 miles up the mountain on a 1 1/2 lane road with steep drops off the side of the road and berm. We have a 4 cylinder car, so it did run hard up and down the mountain. I would suggest you have a least a 6 cylinder if you plan on going up and down a lot. The parking is a bit steep also, so make sure your emergency brake works well. The Chalet Village were very nice and helpful. We mostly enjoyed the park, that is the reason we stayed close to the entrance and the that end of Gatlinburg.

We had a wonderful time at Among the Clouds. The house was clean and the kitchen was well supplied with the equipment that we needed. We had a minor hiccup with the alarm system when we got there (combination of user error and, unclear directions, and broken display screen). Hopefully the directions and display screen will be fixed based on our comments to the management company. The only thing missing at check in was the pool pass which was resolved when we went to the management office the next day. No other issues.

It was a bit of a stressful drive up to the house but we got used to it pretty quickly. Make sure to go up and down the mountain in low gear on your car. We did both the back up the driveway and drive straight up the driveway and found the straight up the driveway method worked best for our car (Traverse).

Finally, the bears. There are bears roaming the area around this house which is awesome but you need to make sure you take some precautions. Do not leave food in your car or outside the house any where and make sure to lock your car doors. We removed all food from our car every night but forgot to lock the car door one night. We woke up the next morning to our car doors wide open and stuff from inside the car scattered all over the driveway. Luckily, there was no damage to the car (either inside or outside). Just beware and be smart about what you are doing.

Overall we had a wonderful week, enjoyed the views and the pool table and the amenities at the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Couldn't have asked for a better cabin. Everything was as advertised. Booking, check in-out was a breeze.
My fiance and I had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning!
Anonymous December 13, 2016
Beautiful, well appointed and the views are amazing. The drive to the cabin is scary, and I would never wind my way around to it again. It was 1.7 miles of terror.
Nathan C. September 8, 2016
My wife and I were married on the balcony of this wonderful place! Everything from the scenery, to the food, to the cozy nights at the chalet was perfect! We plan to return every year for our anniversary!
Mike P. April 29, 2017
It was so very peaceful and relaxing. The views from the dual balconies went absolutely mind blowing. Watching clouds/smoke drift over the mountains in the mornings was awesome.
Anonymous July 27, 2016
Family vacation to hike and enjoy the view. The house provided a spectacular view, and the kids enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. Perfect size for our family of four.
Tom L. October 14, 2016
This is an excellent mountain retreat. The chalet is secluded and furnished with all of the amenities needed. I have stayed here in the past and would not hesitate to return. If you like to hike it is adjacent to the national park and The Cove Mountain Trail. Enjoy the beauty of The Smokies.

My experience with Chalet Village was wonderful. This is the second time I have rented from them, and I don't think I will ever look to another company. They are wonderful.
A few things about this rental:
1) The driveway looks wide enough to turn around at the top in the pics. This was not the experience that I had. I had to use the space nearer to the bottom.
2) This property backs up directly with I think Ober. You can see one of the coasters from the porch. If absolute privacy is your thing, you may not get it here due to this.
3) The rental has basic cable. If you are used to premium channels, you will be disappointed with the provided access. The TVs have a USB hookup, so if you have an Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, or Google Chromcast these can be used to augment the access.

While we were there, we could see a fireworks display every night at 9:30. I don't know if this was truly an everyday thing or a 4th of July week thing, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Really nice chalet enjoyed every but of it will be renting again
Chester K. November 15, 2016
We had a wonderful stay for 4 nights. We really enjoyed the location high on ski mountain. The cabin was clean & had a very fun floor plan. We would definitely recommend staying here although the drive is not for the faint of heart.
Gary D. September 21, 2016
I've been going to Chalet Village since Feb 2001. Stayed with Chalet Village. Tried a few others (also stayed in 2240 when it was ran by another company. Chalet Village Properties always the best to stay with. Kevin and his crew always make it hard to return to FL. As far as 2240 Among the clouds, great chalet awesome view. Note Needs a new pool table.
Amy M. August 5, 2018
Loved the home not driveway especially in the rain but the view was amazing. HOT tub & jacuzzi were nice to relax in. Cabin had all the amenities we needed. Will definitely rent thru Chalet Village again.
Terry S. March 8, 2017
We loved the cabin and the view.
Jonathan N. April 24, 2017
The views make the scary drive almost worth it. We truly loved staying here but the drive up the mountain was very scary. We decided early on that we would only leave once a day in order to minimize the drive. The house itself is fine. It's clean and comfortable. The pictures fairly represent what you see in person.
Ivan H. August 14, 2017
Firs impression of the house would be with a lost breath - the drive up there is not for the ones with unhealthy hearts! :) In 2 1/2 miles drive you gain 1300ft. The road is VERY steep, narrow and curvy, but once you arrive the house will give you memories for the lifetime!
We were not as lucky as the visitors before us to see a bear, but we saw the claws marks on the terrace, wild turkeys and chipmunks! :) The views are splendid and every night we watched the fireworks over Dollywood.
The house is well furnished with nice beds.
A total cleanup of the house might be needed, as dust have been accumulating for a few months.
Be aware of the squeaking floor upstairs.
Once again - what a drive (Texas is mostly flat, but I've driven mountain passes in Switzerland and Colorado 0 nothing compares to the drive to this house)! I am amazed there an asphalt road goes all the way up to the house and cannot even imagine how the house have been built on that steep terrain!
You have to visit and experience it!
Cari D. July 21, 2017
The property itself was up near Ober, so it's a very steep climb to get to. We had a van make the climb, but I doubt it would have been able to do it in the winter. The view was amazing, but you couldn't see the Gatlinburg strip for the trees. It was pretty quite even though we could see the ober coaster and parking lot from the front porch.
The pictures are out of date though. The couch in the upstairs game room is gone. We were going to have one of our boys crash on that couch, but they ended up having to take over the lower living room which made it inconvenient for the adults who wanted to stay up. The Jacuzzi bathtub is in the upstairs room, and our boys refused to take the lower room by the front door in a place they weren't comfortable with. There were a few cob webs in the windows, the bathroom floor could have used a sweep. But for the most part it looked clean. Washer/dryer, coffee maker, oven, and microwave worked just fine.
Management and maintenance were very responsive when the hot tub needed more water. If you want to have access to the clubhouse pool, you need to get a pass from the office which is on the other side of the strip as you're first coming in. It was a bit inconvenient for us as we didn't check in at the office due to traffic and office hours.
All in all it was a nice experience. We just wished the photos were updated, or we may have gotten a different place to accommodate our needs.
Kim G. September 1, 2017
This is the best chalet I've stayed at over the years. Eveything was absolutely perfect and i couldnt ask for more! Well worth the drive up the mountain
Claire B. November 6, 2017
This was our fifth time staying in the cabin and we enjoy it every time we definitely recommend this cabin to Anyone that just wants to get away and who likes looking out at the mountains and nature
Tim W. May 27, 2017
Second time we've stayed here and was just as enjoyable as the first. Very clean and well stocked. I would definitely recommend to anyone that wanted a never ending view. The only thing that was a problem was that we experienced a little rain in our 3 days there and the gutter leaked just about nonstop even when the rain was nearly stopped. The bad part of that is that it leaked directly where you have to stop to unlock the porch gate, so it was always wet at that spot on the porch. Outside of that the stay was nearly perfect. Thanks to the owners for sharing their wonderful chalet.

This chalet is very high in the mountains with a great view; however the roads were very sharp and narrow. We saw two bears as we were getting our belongs out our car so be careful and look at your surroundings. It does need to be updated(new pool table, new comforter and better pillows) It was mostly clean; however there were some dead bugs in the house and I found some belongings left from previous visitors (house cleaning must do better). Overall, this chalet was a nice place to stay and I would still recommend to someone else.
William M. December 1, 2017

This was the first time we stayed in a chalet while staying in Gatlinburg and we can't wait to come back again to the same exact property! The view was amazing, we had quick and easy access to Obergatlinburg and if we really wanted to, we never had to leave the property with all the available amenities within the property. And most important, the pricere was very reasonable for the rental experience offered.
Brandy H. May 20, 2014
We had a wonderful stay Among the Clouds! There is a definitely a reason it has that name! The view is amazing during the day and at night. The driveway was quite interesting. We parked one car sideways at the top of the driveway. The SUV had to be parked at the bottom of the hill, so the walk wasn't fun, but is manageable. The house was great! The pool table was used a lot! The only reason I gave the cleanliness 4 stars was because the hot tub was not clean. We got in the first night and got right back out. I would definitely recommend this chalet to others and we may even stay there again next time!

Loved our stay..had a great time and the cabin is wonderful. Very high up but that's the way we like it! Great view!! This is the second time we rented this cabin in two months. You won't be sorry with this one!!
Daniel W. June 24, 2014
We had a wonderful experience at this chalet. The privacy was awesome and the condition of the home was great. We saw bears while we were there along with some turkeys. It was a much needed get away which we enjoyed very much! We would definitely stay at Among The Clouds again.
Anonymous July 13, 2014
Rental was clean and prepared. We enjoyed the view (but not the drive to the house!), the pool table, and the nice TV area downstairs. The folks at Chalet Village were great as always.
Tom L. September 9, 2014
If you want to be close to the tourist attractions this is not the location for you. But if you are looking for a wonderful, quiet hideaway with great views this is it. Hikers can walk down the hill and step onto Cove Mountain Trail in the national park for short or long day hikes. This was my second stay in this chalet and I would definitely return.
Tom L. May 27, 2014
Secluded locale, all the comforts of home, spectacular views and springtime in The Smokies. It doesn't get much better. Chalet Village has always provided excellent locations and service for my annual trips and they did again.

Chris P. December 29, 2014
The cabin was awesome, the view was amazing!

Had a great time. The cabin is very nice.

This reservation was made a year ahead of time and we never received conformation on the rental or anything so we never actually got to stay on this property. Definitely won't be using this company again.
KELLY K. September 26, 2014
Nina M. January 15, 2015
We were very happy with the company and the cabin.
Anonymous December 9, 2014
We enjoyed our stay at this carbin. Fully furnished and decorative. The hot tub is big enough and very relaxing. However it ran out of hot water quickly. Other than that every thing worked out great. I think the drive is rough and the map handout did not help at out. The drive is terrifying if you are scare of height but I enjoyed it. I will rate this carbin a 9. If you looking for peace and relaxing place with less mobility this carbin is the right spot
Tony B. December 2, 2014
Snow Chains & 4 wheel drive is your best bet when Old Man Winter gives you a dusting of snow at this 3000ft elevation location. The view is spectacular and the home is wonderful. The Chalet Village personal was great, very professional with a down home attitude and a “want to help” spirit. They actually gave us a small amount of driveway salt they had left, although we decided to purchase another bag form Lowes and it helped melt the ice from the driveway as the sun was not much help from behind the mountain crest. Overall score, 8 for this trip. Simply because of the weathers effect on this location.
Bernadette B. April 23, 2014
We had a wonderful time. The property was nice and clean and cozy. I would gladly tell friend to stay there. I will return gladly. Thanks for a great place to stay.
Tracey G. February 4, 2015
We enjoyed the chalet. Our only problem would be that the master suites were above each other and you sometimes could hear each other. The floors on the upper level did creak. Otherwise we would stay there again.
Michael D. October 20, 2015
This chalet is very high on the mountain. You can see Ober Gatlinburg down below. The drive to the chalet is somewhat challenging but fun! The chalet is well equipped inside. The living furniture should be replaced. The wrap around sofa is worn out! The bedrooms could use new pillows because the ones there are flat as pancakes. The electric grill on the deck is a waste of time. It will grill your food but the grill taste is just not there. The driveway is very steep and you should back up to the chalet to unload your vehicle.
Tom L. June 1, 2015
This was a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a peaceful mountain retreat. Bear watchers may be able to view one grazing in the yard from the safety of the upper deck. I have stayed in this cabin on several occasions and loved it. It has been great as a base for day hikes in the national park. A warning though to future guests is worth noting. Ober Gatlinburg is installing a roller coaster adjacent to this house and that will certainly influence my future stays here. However guests looking to visit the ski resort will probably love it. Chalet Village has always been great, and I will definitely continue to book my mountain vacations through them.
