My family and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago. We loved the house! It is old, so it does have an old home smell to it, which did not bother us. I love the smell of old, historic homes. The beds were nice and the home was very clean. There are stairs that lead up to the front door and stairs down to the back yard. This would not be very handy for a person with mobility issues. It really is very close to the beach, as well as Benno's. We thought it might be a hassle to fight traffic to cross the highway to the beach, but it wasn't. The beach gear was locked and it took two days before we were contacted about where the key was. By then we had already bought some bag chairs. I feel like the key should be left out with a note. We were only there three days to begin with. Buying the chairs didn't wreck our budget, but it might someone else's. Also, the trash bin in the backyard was full, with a bag of trash on the ground next to it. We chose not to carry our two bags of trash down the stairs to leave it on the ground with the other trash, so it was left bagged in the laundry room. Sorry about that, cleaning ladies! If the bin would have been empty, I promise that's where we would have taken it. My family and I would absolutely recommend this property and if we ever come back to Galveston, we will try to stay here. We ate at Benno's. By the way, don't get mad at Benno's if the line is long to order. It's not always like that, so come back another day at a different time. It's good eating! We also ate at Cajun Greek, Mario's Seawall Italian, Original Mexican Café, and Henry's Mexican Restaurant. I would recommend all of these places! We went to Moody Gardens and loved it. I've seen comments saying the aquarium was blah and took 5 minutes to get through, but that was not the case for us. Order your tickets online and save $5 a ticket. P.S. - don't let the Cascade pods they leave out fool you. There is no dishwasher! ; )

Our stay was successful as far as a good time at the beach. Unfortunately due to lack of pantry supplies it became very inconvenient. As a rental company don't you think paper towels, napkins, a hair dryer, bedding would of been helpful? Of course something should be done with the cockroaches. A beach cooler would be a good item for the beach. Also the freezer doesn't make ice and the dryer is so noisy it make it impossible to sleep. On a positive note it was close to the beach.

The house was very nice and overall 4.5 stars. Great location.. felt safe to walk the beach, down to the piers, places to eat. Quiet neighborhood. Only a few downs: 1 roll of TP.. had to go buy more, No gril, yard was not mowed or in shape to use...lots of sand burs.. definitely enough room for an amazing back yard but looks like they have not gotten that far along yet.

This older home is very well decorated and furnished.

We are a family of 5 and there were adequate beds since the couches make out into double beds, a luxury we do not always get with some rentals.

The one bath when you are used to a 2.5 bath house was an adjustment, and that is also the one reason why my husband probably would not rent the house again - if we had another equal choice with more than one bath.

The only beef that I had with the property management was that the house was not ready until 2 hours after the 3 pm check in time and we were not compensated in any way. We should have been given back a portion of that $165 cleaning fee in my opinion.

I do want to point out that there are several steps to get your luggage up with this house. It is not a house for people that can not climb steps well.

The parking is very narrow and tricky when you first drive up, especially if you have a low riding car.

The are many of the houses in this part of town that have been completely remodeled and appear to be used for rentals. There was one house directly across from this rental that was in need of painting etc, but the tenant appeared to be disabled elderly man. It felt to me like a very safe area for families. I had no fears about walking around after dark. I enjoyed my walk to the Pleasure Pier.
